Free AI music generators: What Suno, Gemini and ElevenLabs allow, and the usage rules
Several AI music generators let you make songs for free, with vocals and lyrics, but the free tiers are usually limited to personal, non-commercial use.

Plans, prices and features checked on the official pages on October 30, 2026.
Yes, you can make full songs with an AI music generator for free. Suno, Google’s Gemini app and ElevenLabs all have free access, and each one turns a text prompt or your own lyrics into a track. The catch is the license: on the free plans of Suno and ElevenLabs, the songs are for personal use only.
This guide covers what each free tier gives you, how to write a prompt, and what you can do with the result. Everything below comes from the makers’ own pages, read on October 30, 2026.

The free options: What each tool makes and where it stops
Four tools matter for anyone searching for a free generator. They differ in how much you can make, whether vocals are supported and what the license says.
Suno is the best-known option. Its Free plan costs $0 and gives 50 credits per day on the v6-mini model, according to Suno’s pricing page. Commercial rights are listed as "No" on that plan. It handles lyrics, vocals and full songs, and the page also lists uploads of up to 8 minutes on the Free plan.

Gemini (Google Lyria) is the simplest to start with if you already have a Google Account. Google’s Gemini Help says you open Upload & tools, choose Create music and type a prompt. You can pick a short track of about 1 minute or a full track of about 2 to 3 minutes by switching to the Pro model. The help page does not publish a daily number; it says there are track-creation limits and that you can wait for the limit to refresh or upgrade.
ElevenLabs offers a Free plan with 10,000 credits per month, shared across all its products. Its music page describes vocals, lyrics in multiple languages and section editing, such as changing a chorus or bridge without regenerating the whole track. Music costs 900 credits per minute, so the free credits would cover roughly 11 minutes of music if spent on nothing else. That is arithmetic on the published rate, not a promise from ElevenLabs, and the page does not state a music allowance for the Free plan.
Stable Audio from Stability AI takes a different route. Its page says the models are trained on fully licensed datasets and that open-source weights for Stable Audio 3.0 Small and 3.0 Medium can be downloaded. The pricing page lists a monthly no-cost generation allowance, but the figures could not be confirmed, so check it before relying on it.
Plans and prices: What Suno, ElevenLabs and Gemini charge
The paid tiers matter mostly because they are where commercial rights start.
| Tool and plan | Price | Main limits |
|---|---|---|
| Suno Free | $0/month | 50 credits per day, v6-mini model, no commercial rights, 4 concurrent generations |
| Suno Pro | $8/month | 2,500 credits per month, 20 song downloads per month, v6 and v6-wild, commercial rights, 2 stem types |
| Suno Premier | $24/month | 10,000 credits per month, 60 downloads per month, commercial rights, 3 stem types, Suno Studio |
| ElevenLabs Free | $0/month | 10,000 credits per month, personal use only for music |
| ElevenLabs Starter | $1/month after a $6 first month | Commercial use without streaming |
| ElevenLabs Creator | $11/month after a $22 first month | More credits, commercial license |
| ElevenLabs Pro | $99/month | Higher credit allowance |
| Gemini (Lyria) | See Google | Track limits apply; higher limits depend on the Google plan |
Prices checked on October 30, 2026. Suno’s annual billing saves 20%. ElevenLabs annual billing charges 10 months for 12. ElevenLabs also lists Scale at $299, Business at $990 and Enterprise at custom pricing.
One detail worth knowing: Suno says subscription credits do not roll over from day to day or month to month, so unused free credits are gone at the end of the day.
No sign-up, unlimited and mobile app: What to expect
Many searches ask for a generator with no sign-up, no sign-in or unlimited use. None of the official pages for these products offers any of these. Suno, ElevenLabs and Gemini all tie free use to an account, and Gemini requires you to be 18 or older, signed in to a personal Google Account (or a supported work or school account) and to have Keep Activity turned on.
"Unlimited" does not appear on any of the free plans. Suno resets a daily credit pool, ElevenLabs a monthly one, and Google applies track limits that refresh. If a site claims free unlimited MP3 downloads with no account, it is not one of the makers covered here, so check its terms before you upload lyrics or a voice.
For a phone, Gemini is available on web and mobile and delivers tracks as video files with cover art, which you can download as MP4 or audio-only MP3. The Gemini Help page also lists a copyable share link.
How to make a song: A five-step workflow
- Pick the tool by what you need: Gemini for a quick clip, Suno for a song with your own lyrics, ElevenLabs for editing sections.
- Sign in. For Gemini, switch on Keep Activity and choose Create music under Upload & tools.
- Write a prompt with a genre, a mood, a tempo or instruments and, if you want vocals, a voice type. Add your own lyrics if the tool accepts them, with labels such as verse and chorus.
- Generate two or three versions and compare them. Credits are spent on each attempt, so change one thing at a time.
- Download only what you plan to use. On Suno, downloads count toward a monthly allowance on paid plans, and that matters for the license.
ElevenLabs says you can also start from a loop or a voice recording, and use a vocal from your own tracks or its Vocal Library. Its page does not say how many seconds of audio are needed, so check before recording.
The rules on using the songs: Personal, commercial and ownership
This is where the free plans differ most from the paid ones.
Suno’s Terms say Free and Basic users may use output only for personal, non-commercial purposes. For Pro and Premier, Suno assigns to you whatever rights it holds in the output, and also says it cannot promise that copyright will apply to any output. Commercial use is allowed only for output obtained through a permitted download within your tier’s monthly allowance. Remixes cannot be used commercially on any tier. The terms describe rights from a download you already obtained as perpetual, even if you later cancel or downgrade. They do not say whether your plan at creation or at download decides the outcome.
For ElevenLabs, the music page says tracks are "cleared for broad commercial use", but rights vary by plan. The Free plan is personal use only and Starter is commercial without streaming. Self-serve plans permit online and offline commercial use except film, TV and studio games, according to its FAQ. Enterprise plans permit all online and offline commercial use.
Google says each Lyria track carries an embedded digital watermark so it can be identified as AI-generated. The Gemini Help page does not set out usage rules beyond that and points to Google’s Terms of Service. Read those before putting a Gemini track in a monetized video.
Copyright is a live issue across the industry. Rightsholders have filed suits over AI use of songs, for example the case covered in Elvis Presley’s rightsholders sue Anthropic over 274 songs. Those are claims by the plaintiffs, and the companies involved have their own responses. Prompting with an artist’s name or pasting copyrighted lyrics is the part most likely to cause trouble for you, so use your own lyrics.
Which free generator fits: A short comparison
| You want | Look at | Why |
|---|---|---|
| A full song with your own lyrics and vocals | Suno | Daily free credits, vocals, 8-minute uploads |
| A quick clip from a Google Account, no separate app | Gemini | Built into the Gemini app, 1 to 3 minute tracks, MP3 download |
| Editing a chorus or bridge, or a multilingual song | ElevenLabs | Section editing and a Vocal Library |
| Local use or your own pipeline | Stable Audio | Open weights for 3.0 Small and 3.0 Medium; check the license |
If you also need sound effects rather than songs, see ElevenLabs’ SFX v3. For video to go with the music, our guide to free AI video generators covers the limits. Udio is another well-known name, but its official pricing page could not be loaded for this guide, so its limits are not covered here.
Common questions
Which AI music generator is free and best?
Suno has the clearest free tier: 50 credits a day on v6-mini. Gemini is the easiest if you want something with no extra account, and ElevenLabs gives 10,000 credits a month. Which is best depends on whether you need vocals, editing or a license.
Can I use free AI songs on YouTube or sell them?
Not on Suno’s Free plan, which is personal and non-commercial only, and not on ElevenLabs’ Free plan, which is personal use only. Both tie commercial use to a paid plan. For Gemini, read Google’s Terms of Service.
What is Google’s AI music generator?
It is Lyria, Google DeepMind’s music model. Google says the latest version, Lyria 3.5, offers improved vocals and variable song lengths up to 3 minutes. You can try it in the Gemini app, Google Flow Music, Google Vids and Google AI Studio, among others.
How do I prompt an AI music generator?
Name the genre, mood, tempo and instruments, and say whether you want male, female or no vocals. Paste your own lyrics with verse and chorus labels if the tool takes them. Change one element per attempt, because every attempt spends credits.
