Meta AI glasses: Every model, what the AI can do and what they cost
Meta sells AI glasses under four brand lines, from $249 for an entry model to $799 for the Display glasses with a wristband. Here is how they differ and what Meta AI does on each.

Plans, prices and features checked on the official pages on October 25, 2026.
Meta AI glasses are ordinary-looking eyeglasses and sunglasses with a camera, microphones, open-ear speakers and the Meta AI assistant built in. You talk to them with “Hey Meta”, and they take photos and video, make calls, answer questions and translate. In the US, Meta lists them from $249 to $799, depending on the brand line and whether there is a display.
There are four families as of October 25, 2026: Ray-Ban Meta, Oakley Meta, Meta Glasses and the Meta Ray-Ban Display. Only the Display model puts anything in front of your eye. The rest answer by voice.

The four families and which one fits whom
Meta’s store groups its AI glasses into Meta Glasses, Ray-Ban Meta, Oakley Meta and Meta Ray-Ban Display. Meta’s May 2026 buying guide sorts them by user: the creative, the everyday athlete, the social butterfly and the productivity pro.
- Ray-Ban Meta is the mainstream line. The current model is Ray-Ban Meta (Gen 3), in Aviator, Zena (a new cat-eye) and Wayfarer styles. Meta also announced Ray-Ban Meta Audio on September 23, 2026: a camera-free pair in Clubmaster and Burbank styles that weighs 43 g.
- Oakley Meta is the sport line. HSTN is the lightweight everyday style; Vanguard is a wraparound design for training and cycling.
- Meta Glasses is the fashion and entry line, with models named Adventurer, Starfire, Capri, Nova and Fury, plus collaboration editions.
- Meta Ray-Ban Display adds a small in-lens screen and a wrist controller called the Meta Neural Band.

What the AI can do on the glasses
According to Meta, you can say “Hey Meta” to take a photo or video, ask a question, play music, send messages and make hands-free calls. The Gen 3 has a six-microphone array that Meta says cuts more than 90% of background noise, and a customizable action button that opens Meta AI.
The features Meta names across the lineup:

- Camera: Ray-Ban Meta (Gen 3) has a 12 MP camera and records 3K Ultra HD video. It adds “dynamic photos”, which let you pick the best frame. An LED lights up whenever the camera is capturing.
- Live translation: listed by Meta among the AI features, alongside sports scores and local restaurant recommendations.
- Music: Meta AI can match songs on Spotify, and the open-ear speakers play audio without earbuds.
- Conversation focus: listed for Ray-Ban Meta as a way to hear the person in front of you better.
- Fitness: Oakley Meta HSTN offers workout tracking and wind-condition answers. Vanguard connects with Garmin, Strava, Apple Health and Health Connect, can overlay metrics on video and sends post-workout summaries to the Meta AI app.
- Muse: Meta says its Muse personal agent is coming to AI glasses to help offload tasks and turn goals into plans.
Meta has not published a full list of translation languages on the pages checked; its help center has a separate article on how to use live translation.
What the Display model adds
The Meta Ray-Ban Display has a full-color, high-resolution display in the lens, placed off to one side. According to Meta it is not always on and is meant for short interactions. It is controlled by the Neural Band, a wristband that reads muscle signals so small finger movements act as commands.
Meta lists these Display features: Meta AI answers with visuals and step-by-step guidance, messaging and video calls, camera preview and zoom, pedestrian navigation with a map (beta, select cities), live captions, real-time translation for select languages, music controls, a calendar app (Google Calendar and Outlook) and neural handwriting replies.
Meta says the glasses last up to 6 hours of mixed use, with up to 30 hours total using the charging case. The band lasts up to 18 hours and is rated IPX7. It launched in the US on September 30, 2025, at limited retail locations, with demos at select stores. Deutsche Telekom announced a German sale from October 13, 2026, at 899 euros, but US stock and availability should be checked with Meta or a retailer.

Prices checked on October 25, 2026. Meta’s own store pages are localized: the pages read for this guide showed prices in UAE dirhams, so US buyers should confirm on the US store.

Prescription, Transitions and reading glasses
Yes, several models can take prescription lenses. Meta says Ray-Ban Meta Audio is compatible with a wide range of optical prescriptions, and the Ray-Ban Meta line has prescription-compatible Optics styles (Blayzer Optics and Scriber Optics). The LISA Edition Adventurer and Capri also support prescriptions. The Display model comes with Transitions lenses.
The pages read did not state prescription strength ranges, or whether HSTN and Vanguard take prescriptions. Meta’s help center has an article called “Prescription lenses for AI glasses”; check it for your exact prescription. Meta does not describe any model as dedicated reading glasses.
Water resistance: Splash-proof, not waterproof
None of these are waterproof for swimming. Meta’s published ratings are IPX4 for Oakley Meta HSTN (protection against splashes), IP67 for Oakley Meta Vanguard (dust-tight and water-resistant, described by Meta as its most water-resistant frames) and IPX7 for the Display’s Neural Band only. The pages read gave no rating for the Display glasses themselves or for Ray-Ban Meta Gen 3, so check the spec sheet before wearing them in rain or at the pool.
How to get started
- Choose a model and frame, and decide on clear, sun, Transitions or prescription lenses. Mix & Match lets you pick frame, lenses and case color online or at a Meta Lab store.
- Charge the glasses in their case.
- Install the Meta AI app on your phone. Meta says the old Meta View app is now the Meta AI app.
- Pair the glasses in the app by following its prompts.
- Say “Hey Meta” to try photos, calls, music and questions. Check Meta’s list of supported countries in the help center, since features vary by region.
Limits and things to know before buying
The camera is the main privacy issue for people around you. Meta says an LED signals when photos or video are being taken, and the Audio model drops the camera entirely.
Battery ranges from about 6 hours (Display) to 12 hours (Audio), so an all-day trip depends on the case. Availability is country-by-country: Meta Glasses launched in Singapore, South Korea, Mexico and the UAE on September 23, 2026, with Brazil next. Several features, such as navigation on the Display glasses, are labeled beta or limited to select cities and languages.

Common questions
Are Meta AI glasses worth it?
It depends on what you want. If you want hands-free photos, calls, music and quick AI answers, the $249 to $449 models cover that. The $799 Display model suits people who want glanceable information, and Vanguard suits athletes. Whether they are worth it is a personal call; this guide only reports Meta’s own specifications.
Can Meta AI glasses translate languages?
Meta lists live translation among the AI features of its glasses, and the Display model offers real-time translation and live captions for select languages. Meta’s help center has a dedicated article on using it, so check it for the language list.
Can Meta AI glasses be prescription?
Yes, on several models, including Ray-Ban Meta Optics styles, Ray-Ban Meta Audio and the LISA Edition Meta Glasses. Confirm the supported range for your prescription with Meta or your optician before ordering.
Are Meta AI glasses waterproof?
No. Oakley Meta HSTN is rated IPX4 and Oakley Meta Vanguard IP67 by Meta, which means splash and rain resistance, not swimming. Meta gave no rating on the pages read for the other glasses.
What is the difference between Gen 1, Gen 2 and Gen 3 Ray-Ban Meta?
Meta says Gen 3 lasts up to 9 hours, one hour more than Gen 2, and adds a six-microphone array, a customizable action button and dynamic photos. Gen 2 was listed from $379 in Meta’s May 2026 guide against $449 for Gen 3. Meta’s pages read did not detail Gen 1.
